    Background & Expertise

    Dr. Barootchi is an internationally recognized periodontist and clinician-scientist whose work focuses on periodontal and peri-implant plastic surgery, immediate implant therapy, and the management of implant disease and complications. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology, and President-Elect of the International Society of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons, with his presidency scheduled to begin in October 2026.

    Research & Publications

    With more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Barootchi's research spans basic and translational science, animal models, and human randomized controlled trials. His work includes innovations in tissue perfusion assessment, minimally invasive microsurgical techniques, and wound-healing biomarkers. His contributions have earned numerous prestigious honors, including the Academy of Osseointegration's Best Clinical Innovations Award and multiple awards from the American Academy of Periodontology.

    Academic Appointments & Editorial Roles

    Dr. Barootchi is a faculty member at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan. He is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Periodontal Research and Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research.

    Education & Innovation

    Alongside Dr. Tavelli, he co-founded TissueX, a surgical education platform dedicated to advancing clinical education in periodontal and peri-implant plastic surgery. His scientific leadership, clinical research experience, and passion for education will be instrumental as we continue developing BioCellgraft and advancing regenerative therapies in oral care.
